Stephen's statement on the proposed redevelopment of Melwood Training Ground

Liverpool Football Club are proposing a redevelopment of their Melwood Training Ground. A planning application has been lodged with the City Council, indicating that they propose to build 160 houses on the site.

The application can be viewed on the Council’s website : http://liverpool.gov.uk/planning-and-building-control/ using the application number 17O/1955.

Many residents have been in touch, concerned about the proposal and the impact that the scheme would have on the local area. Thanks to everyone that has taken the time to get in touch.

I remain opposed to the proposal and will be objecting to the planning application.

I am working with the local ward councillors Tony ConcepcionJohn Prince and Barbara Murray (Pamela Thomas, Dan Barrington and Lana Orr) to ensure that local residents' voices are heard.

Liverpool Football Club have a long history in West Derby and it is still my hope that they can be persuaded to stay in our community.

I would be grateful if you would contact me with your views on the proposal, to ensure that my submission to the City Council reflects fully local people's views and concerns. You can email me at stephen.twigg.mp@parliament.uk
